Your Guide to the Millburn–Short Hills 4th of July 2026

The Millburn-Short Hills Fourth of July Committee, a local nonprofit, will hold its annual Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The day runs from a morning program at Taylor Park to an evening fireworks show at Millburn High School.

This year's holiday falls on the 250th anniversary of American independence, a milestone known as the semiquincentennial. The Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Morning Events at Taylor Park

The day opens at 9 a.m. with a flag raising at Taylor Park, joined by local Boy Scouts and town dignitaries.

The Annual Patriot Award Ceremony and a Bike, Trike, and Stroller Parade both follow at 9:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., the park hosts a magician, a kids' DJ dance party, and face painting. Millburn Township is sponsoring carnival rides, and the morning also includes a stilt walker and a train that loops around the park. All morning activities are free.

Patriot Award

This year's Patriot Award goes to the Parsil Family. The committee presents the award annually to recognize service to the community.

Evening Fireworks at Millburn High School

The evening program moves to the Millburn High School football field. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. A DJ will play during the evening, and food and ice cream trucks will be on site, including Scream Truck and Jersey Jonny's Grill.

Know Before You Go

Morning activities take place at Taylor Park. The afternoon and evening program is at Millburn High School, 462 Millburn Avenue.

On-site parking at the high school is limited. Street parking is available nearby, and attendees may want to arrive early or carpool.

For the fireworks, bring blankets or lawn chairs. For daytime activities, sunscreen and water are advisable. The event is family-friendly; those with specific accessibility needs can contact the committee in advance.
